Foil Asset Tags

Foil asset labels are thin, flexible metal tags made from anodized aluminum. They’re widely used because they strike a balance between durability, cost, and ease of application.

Composition & Manufacturing

• Material: Usually made from 0.003″ to 0.005″ thick anodized aluminum foil.

• Anodizing Process: The aluminum is electrolytically treated to create a hard, porous oxide layer. This layer locks in the image or text, making it resistant to abrasion and chemicals.

• Image Embedding: Barcodes and images are either imprinted digitally or through a photographic imaging transfer

• Construction: Semi-flexible

🧪 Chemical Properties

• Corrosion-resistant: Aluminum oxide layer protects from rust and most solvents.

• Non-conductive surface: Once anodized, the surface does not conduct electricity.

• pH Tolerance: Typically resists pH ranges from 4 to 9; suitable for most industrial environments.

🎨 Finishes

• Matte Finish – Reduces glare; ideal for barcodes.

• Brushed Finish – A more premium, textured look.

• Gloss Finish – Rare in foil tags; can be harder to scan.

• Permanent Acrylic (most common): Designed for metals, plastics, and painted surfaces.

• High-Performance Adhesive: Withstands heat, cold, and outdoor exposure.

• Foam Adhesive: Adds slight cushioning for rough or uneven surfaces.

• Tamper-evident variants: Leave a void or destruct pattern when removed.

Important: Adhesive performance depends on surface prep. For best results, clean and dry the surface before applying.
